Task and finish groups

Task and Finish Groups

Task and Finish groups have been formed to ensure the appropriate drivers are in place to minimise risk and overcome bottlenecks in the achievement of the 18 Weeks Referral to Treatment Standard.

The Task and Finish Groups are as follows:

  • Audiology
  • Demand and Capacity
  • Dental Specialties
  • Dermatology
  • Diagnostics
  • Neurological Services
  • Orthopaedics
  • Plastic Surgery

Core Work Strands

Task and Finish Groups all pursue a common methodology, based on eight core work strands:

  • Measurement and definitions
  • Demand/capacity/activity/queue
  • Demand side solutions
  • Performance management
  • Service redesign and transformation
  • Culture/change
  • Workforce
  • Communication

Each group will identify the key issues and where there are ‘sticking points’ in the delivery of the standard. An output report will explain approaches put in place nationally, and key improvement areas for sustainable change. Reference will be made to best practice highlighting specific examples of good work. Where there are issues that cannot be resolved by the individual Group, these will be taken to the 18 Weeks Operational Delivery Team.
